  Question

How do I configure my email services to work with Microsoft Outlook 2000?

  Answer

  1. Choose Tools from the menu bar, then select Accounts.
  2. In the Internet Accounts window, click Add, then select Mail.
  3. In the proceeding window, type in your desired name in the Display Name field.
  4. Enter your Web-based email address, and then click Next.
  5. In the My Incoming Mail Server is a field, select POP3 server. Enter your POP3 host (for example, mail.sample-company.com) into the Incoming Mail Server box, and your SMTP server (for example, mail.sample-company.com) in the Outgoing Mail Server box.
  6. In the proceeding window, type in your user name (your entire Web-based email address, for example, you@sample-company.com) and password (the one you created for your email account), then click Next.
  7. Finally, select what type of connection you have, then click Next.
  8. After clicking Finish, you will be taken back to the Internet Accounts window.
  9. Click on Properties then select the Servers tab and make sure you have My Server Requires Authentication checked.
  10. Now click OK and you should be back to the Internet Accounts window.
  11. Click Close and you're ready to use POP3 under Outlook 2000!
